Smoke in Your Room at This Marijuana-Friendly Hotel Suite in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, MI — A pair of cannabis-friendly suites in a temporary lodging concept in Ann Arbor has a new local sponsor.

Airriva, an Ohio-based boutique accommodation company, handles temporary stays at City Club Apartments in Ann Arbor. Earlier this year, the company launched two cannabis-friendly suites where tenants are allowed to smoke marijuana.

“I would say it’s not typical to find cannabis-friendly places,” said Katie McDermid, marketing manager at Airriva. “…This was our first location that has canna-friendly rooms.”

After New Standard, the venue’s original sponsor, closed its Ann Arbor location, Airriva began looking for a new dispensary to partner with. The company officially launched its partnership with Liberty Cannabis in August.

Liberty Cannabis, 338 S. Ashley St., has offices in Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Massachusetts and Maryland. The Ann Arbor location is just a three-minute walk from the City Club Apartments, 201 S. First St.

“It’s definitely something they appreciate, being able to be in the comfort of their home away from home and enjoying the togetherness,” McDermid said. “…A lot of people who want to smoke don’t try to go out and go crazy with it. It’s just a relaxing place, relaxing vibe, can enjoy from the comfort of your home.”

Liberty Cannabis offers a variety of “canna-swag” for the unit, McDermid said, including tote bags, lighters and a 10% discount code off a dispensary purchase. There are plans to expand offerings as partnerships develop.

“Michigan’s cannabis market is booming – the total amount of cannabis products sold between recreational and medical dispensaries in the state has tripled in the past two years,” said Casey Moletteri, Associate Marketing Director from Holistic Industries, the parent company of Liberty Cannabis, in a report. “Joining forces with Airriva is a great way to celebrate cannabis culture and promote cannabis tourism in and around Ann Arbor and encourages visitors to explore and support local businesses.”

The suites, 303 and 127 at the Ann Arbor City Club, have a one-bedroom and two-bedroom option. Although the price of the suites is about the same as the non-smoking suites, there is a $100 security deposit, to be returned if there are no marijuana-related damages in the room .

Airriva has offices across the country, including in Arizona, Kentucky, Texas and Ohio. To book cannabis-friendly suites, visit the Airriva website.
