Micro in Melbourne: About Ovolo’s Cozy Room Strategy

Ovolo Hotels is tapping into the growing solo traveler market with a bold micro-room concept at its Melbourne boutique hotel, Ovolo South Yarra.

Known as Go Go Snug rooms, mini hotel rooms target the experiential traveler, looking for affordable indulgence.

Ovolo has been careful not to degrade the guest experience while downsizing its rooms, with guests still having access to all the usual Ovolo perks, including a free in-room mini-bar.

Ovolo Group CEO Dave Baswal said it’s about evolving and adapting customer experiences to match travelers’ wants and needs.

“We’ve worked to ensure that Ovolo South Yarra is the perfect fit for any type of traveler visiting Melbourne, and we’re particularly excited about our micro-room concept for solo travellers,” Baswal said.

“With the introduction of Go Go Snug Rooms, guests need not compromise on luxury as they are designed with Ovolo’s effortless living philosophy.”

Designed in collaboration with award-winning designer Luchetti Krelle, the rooms should appeal to the modern traveler.

“Go Go Snug Rooms were designed as an innovative option for the new modern traveler as a solution for anyone seeking solo adventures and those with an entrepreneurial spirit,” said Luchetti Krelle co-founder Rachel Luchetti.

“Naturally, the smaller rooms encourage guests to also use the hotel’s common areas, all of which are designed for both working and networking.”

The 123 rooms at the Ovolo South Yarra — from Boogie and Groovy Suites to Rockstar Suites — each make a statement with accents of chrome and color.

“South Yarra – the cosmopolitan corner of Melbourne – has always had a trend-setting rep as a cultural hub for food, art and fashion,” Luchetti said.

“It’s the perfect place to go out in style and live life the way it should be.”
