Latest news: Sarah Derry named new CEO of Accor Pacific
Accor’s popularity Senior Vice President – Talent and Culture, Sarah Derry, has been named to succeed Simon McGrath as CEO of the company’s Pacific operations.
Derry will assume the role from next week (February 1), which is one of the most important positions in the industry in Asia Pacific.
Accor Chairman and CEO Sebastien Bazin welcomed the appointment of Derry, who joined Accor in 2017 after successfully owning and operating his own business for more than 10 years.
“I am delighted to welcome Sarah to the Accor Executive Committee as the new CEO of Accor Pacific,” he said.
“She not only brings a wealth of experience to this role, but also a unique understanding of Accor’s values and culture.
“His strategic expertise, gained over an impressive career in the hospitality industry, will no doubt prove invaluable as our growth in the region continues,” Bazin said.
The Paris-based global CEO praised outgoing Accor Pacific CEO McGrath for his passion and dedication to the chain.
“Personally, I would like to thank Simon McGrath for his absolute professionalism, dedication and commitment to Accor over the past 15 years,” he said.
“He has been unwavering in his commitment to the team and our business, and has led Accor to become the largest hotel operator in the Pacific, growing from 120 hotels to over 400.
“He introduced new brands to the market including Pullman, Mövenpick, Sofitel SO and ibis Styles and led the successful acquisitions of Mirvac Hotels and Resorts and Mantra.
“His expertise in creating and managing partnerships in sports, entertainment and lifestyle is unmatched. We wish him all the best in his next chapter.
With nearly 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, working for international hospitality companies and excelling early in his career in operations, Derry brings to this role a tremendous experience, not just in talent and culture, but also in business, strategy and development.
