La Vie appoints Melbourne chief executives

La Vie Hotels and Resorts has appointed two general managers following the recent signing of The Sebel Melbourne Ringwood and The Motley Hotel.

Jeremy Nordkamp takes over as general manager of the Motley Hotel, which opens in Richmond early next year, while Melanie Watson will lead as general manager of the Sebel Melbourne Ringwood.

Nordkamp brings over 15 years of local and international experience in the hospitality industry, having managed a number of 5-star boutique properties, including the launch of The Calile Hotel Brisbane and Kandima Maldives. He has also held leadership positions at Crystalbrook Vincent, Crystalbrook Riley, Ovolo Laneways, Peppers Dockland and Peppers Beach Club.

Watson brings extensive experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, having held various management, sales and marketing positions, as well as leadership roles at Balgownie Estate Yarra Valley, Marnong Estate and Rydges Hotel Bell City.

Intrepid ANZ ® Travel Names

Intrepid Travel has appointed Brett Mitchell to oversee the tour operator’s Australian and New Zealand region as ANZ Managing Director.

Mitchell worked at B Corp for over a decade, most recently as a sales manager.

He succeeds Sarah Clark who will leave the company in mid-November to take up the position of CEO of Tourism Tasmania, Clark’s home state.

Hilton Little Queen Street welcomes a new chef

Jason Lear joins the Hilton Little Queen Street team as the newly appointed chef of Luci restaurant and The Douglas Club cocktail bar.

Lear brings a wealth of experience, having worked at respected Australian restaurants Grossi Florentino (Melbourne), Cafe Di Stasio (Melbourne) and Pilu at Freshwater (Sydney).

Outrigger Appoints Vice President of Americas Sales

Outrigger Hospitality Group has appointed Angela Murphy as Vice President of Sales for the Americas.

Murphy brings a wealth of experience with her most recent role as Global Sales Manager and Marketing Consultant for a portfolio of contract clients in New York, Northern California, Portland and internationally.

Prior to becoming a consultant, she was a co-founder of the nonprofit Food for Change; regional director of sales and marketing at Proper Hospitality and also Viceroy Hotels and Resorts; Global Director of Sales and Marketing for One&Only / Kerzner International for Australia and the United States; and Director of Key Accounts for IHG for Australia, US and UK.

Murphy will work to develop key sales strategies for the brand’s Waikīkī Collection, Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa and other Hawaiian properties. She will lead strategy in growth groups and wedding market segments; leading the Outrigger Expert Advisor and Outrigger Business Connection programs; and lead the company’s service sales and independent contractor network in North America.
